MORE THINGS IN THE SKY


The US Navy's X-47B UCAV took another historic step as it conducted its first touch-and-go landings on a nuclear aircraft carrier off the coast of Virginia.


This was an achievement in the Navy’s program to develop an autonomous, unmanned, jet-powered combat aircraft capable for operating from a carrier.

Aeryon Labs recently unveiled its latest compact UAV, the SkyRanger, which deploys within seconds from a backpack and boasts a new airframe that can remain aloft in high winds and very high temperatures.

Another quadropter. It’s the UAV Phantom, from DJI, GPS equipped and radio-controlled aircraft. 

Officially it was launched on January. It was promoted as an excellent platform from the air for GoProHERO actioncam, and comes with an adjustable-angle designed specifically for the camera.

El X-47B Pegasus, es un UCAS (Sistema de Combate Aéreo No-Tripulado) y dio otro paso histórico cuando fue puesto a prueba en varios despegues y aterrizajes desde un portaviones de la Marina de Guerra de Estados Unidos, frente a las costas de Virginia.

Este es un logro importante en el desarrollo de un aparato aéreo autónomo, no-tripulado de propulsión a reacción, capaz de operar desde un portaviones.

Los laboratorios Aeryon dieron a conocer recientemente su UAV compacto llamado SkyRanger, que se puede desplegar en segundos, extraído de una mochila, y presenta una nueva estructura aérea que se puede sostener firme el el aire soportando fuertes vientos y temperaturas extremas.

Otro cuadróptero más. Se trata del Vehiculo Aéreo No-Tripulado (UAV) Phantom, de la DJI, equipado con GPS el Sistema de Ubicación Mundial, que es radiocontrolado. 
 
El modelo fue publiciado originalmente en Enero de este año, como una excelente plataforma aérea para la cámara GoProHERO, y está provisto de una montura cuyo ángulo es ajustable, específicamente diseñada para la cámara.

Balloons from Antarctica: be alert Southern Cone


In Antarctica in January, 2013 – the summer at the South Pole – scientists released 20 balloons, each eight stories tall, into the air to help answer an enduring space weather question: when the giant radiation belts surrounding Earth lose material, where do the extra particles actually go? This NASA-funded mission is called BARREL, for Balloon Array for Radiation belt Relativistic Electron Losses. 

Each balloon launched by the BARREL team floated for anywhere from three to 40 days, measuring X-rays produced by fast-moving electrons high up in the atmosphere. BARREL works hand in hand with another NASA mission called the Van Allen Probes, which travels directly through the Van Allen radiation belts. 

The belts wax and wane over time in response to incoming energy and material from the sun, sometimes intensifying the radiation through which satellites orbiting Earth must travel. Scientists need to understand this process better, and even provide forecasts of such space weather, in order to protect our spacecraft. Credit: NASA
