This is a cross-disciplinary compendium of papers by 60authors from 14 different countries. They are specialists in social, physical, and biological sciences, including psychology (predominantly) as well as psychiatry, sociology, anthropology, history, philosophy, folklore, religion, journalism, engineering, computing, medicine, education, analysts with experience in the critical study of UFO perceivers, and other professionals. This volume shares thematically convergent ideas about the plausibility of alternate explanations for an alleged close-range UFO phenomenon. The 57 chapters in this book are divided into seven section headings: Case Studies, Psychological Perspectives, On Witness Testimony, Empirical Research, Anthropological Approach, Metrics and Scaling, and Epistemological Issues. There, the subject matter is analyzed from statistical work to clinical assessment, psychometrics, comparative and evaluation inquiry, and other topic perspectives. Some extracts from the Foreword, written by Dr. Leonard S. Newman, Professor of Psychology at Syracuse University: The contributors to this book include some very smart people. There are all sorts of issues to which they could be devoting their intellectual energy, and all sorts of scholarly and research contributions they could make. They don’t have to write thoughtful and rigorous chapters for a book called The Reliability of UFO Witness Testimony, but this is what they have done. And so, the work continues, as attested to by the papers in this volume. I’m not sure if there exists any collection of papers on any topic that can claim to comprehensively summarize everything that is currently known about it. But this one comes pretty close.

THE DESPERATE REACTION OF THOSE UNSATISFIED WITH AARO

 

"I should also stay clearly for the record, that in our research AARO has found no credible evidence thus far of extraterrestrial activity, off world technology or objects that defy the known laws of physics."

This declaration of Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick at the minute 14:02 of the meeting of the Senate Sub-Committee on Threats and Capabilities, has trigger a frenzy of reactions, many of them desperate or absurd.

One man –pretending that he knows a lot about the subject- simply laughed at that declaration, making mockery of it on Facebook.

George T. Knapp, a conspiracy theorist who happens to be also a journalist, has written a book about the liar Bob Lazar and his fantasies about reverse engineering at Area 51 where he allegedly worked, which is not true.

Knapp –the journalist, not an investigator—has written about UFOs in the Soviet Union, which shows the desperation to maintain the E.T. myth.

Returning to Lazar, he has said he was a Physicist, which is also a lie.

Lazar was considered officially a felon due to exploiting women as prostitutes. In 1990 he was arrested in Nevada.

This is the individual that some people prone to fantasy follow as if he were telling the truth about extraterrestrials kept in Area 51 and the development of reversal engineering.

Worst, there is another conspiracy theorist, who is saying that there was not only a spaceship fallen at Roswell, but that there has been a total of six other spaceships that have been recovered once they crash on Earth.

It is possible that people were refloating the old and faked story of Silas Newton and Leo A. Gebauer about a "flying saucer" that crashed in Aztec, New Mexico in 1948.

The conspiracy theorists operate under the premise that "the government hides the facts", and "the government is not telling us the truth".  That is a gratuitous accusation and supposition, just to win the mind of those who, pursuing the truth end up believing in falsehood.

Another individual exploiting credulity and supporting Bob Lazar, is Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell,  an artist and filmmaker, based in Los Angeles, California.

There is also the effort of someone using the accredited logo of CUFOS –the organization founded by Dr. J. Allen Hynek-- who reproduces old "ufo" cases on Facebook, and now is pushing to revisit the Roswell area.

And there is the general mention of the thousands of "UFO  reports” happened throughout the world as if it were proof that something of that sort exists.

We know through dedicated investigation that a "UFO report" means nothing because the experience proves that the vast majority of them end up being something that has a perfect explanation. The supposed "UFO" ends up being an IFO.

This doesn't mean that all and everything has been explained. There are things that deserve more investigation and study, and that is what AARO is doing. 

The ALP phenomena, like in the Hessdalen valley, deserve more study with instruments as Astrophysicist Dr. Massimo Teodorani has proposed.

But there is even another possibility. The craziest one: the ETs are among us but…they are invisible!

That could explains why AARO can't find them!!

LA DESESPERADA REACCIÓN DE LOS INSATISFECHOS CON AARO

 

"También quiero establecer claramente, para que conste en actas, que en nuestra investigación, AARO no ha encontrado hasta ahora, evidencia creíble de actividad extraterrestre, tecnología de fuera de este mundo u objetos que desafíen las conocidas leyes de la Física." 

Esta declaración del Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick en el minuto 14:02 de la sesión del Sub-Comité del Senado sobre Amenazas y Capacidades, ha desatado un frenesí de reacciones, muchas de ellas desesperadas o absurdas.

Un hombre –pretendiendo que conoce mucho del tema—simplemente se rió de la declaración, haciendo burla de ella en Facebook.

George T. Knapp, un teórico de la conspiración que también es periodista, ha escrito un libro sobre Bob Lazar y sus fantasías acerca ingeniería inversa en el Área 51 donde dice que trabajó, lo cual no es verdad.

Knapp –el periodista, no un investigador—ha escrito sobre OVNIs en la Unión Soviética, lo que muestra la desesperación para mantener el mito E.T.

Volviendo a Lazar, éste ha dicho que era un Físico, lo cual también es mentira.

Lazar fue considerado oficialmente un criminal por explotar mujeres como prostitutas. En 1990 fue arrestado en Nevada.

Este es el individuo que algunas personas con tendencia a la fantasía lo siguen como si dijera la verdad acerca de extraterrestres mantenidos en el Área 51 y el desarrollo de ingeniería inversa.

Peor aún, hay otro teórico de la conspiración, que dice que no sólo cayó una nave espacial en Roswell, sino que hubo un total de otras 6 naves espaciales que han sido recuperadas una vez que se estrellaron contra la Tierra.

Es posible que haya gente que esté reflotando la vieja y falsa historia de Silas Newton y Leo A.Gebauer acerca de un “platillo volante” que se estrelló en Aztec, Nuevo México, en 1948.

Los teóricos de la conspiración operan bajo la premisa de que “el gobierno esconde los hechos”, y “el gobierno no nos está diciendo la verdad”. Esa es una acusación y suposición gratuita, simplemente para ganar la mente de quienes persiguiendo la verdad terminan creyendo en la mentira.

Otro individuo explotando la credulidad y apoyando a Bob Lazar es Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell, un artista y realizador de películas, con base en Los Ángeles, California.

Hay también un esfuerzo por alguien que usa el acreditado logo del CUFOS –la organización fundada por el Dr. J. Allen Hynek—quien reproduce viejos casos “ovni” en Facebook, y ahora está impulsando revisitar la zona de Roswell.

Y está la mención general a miles de “denuncias de OVNI” ocurridas en todo el mundo, como si eso fuera prueba de que algo de eso existe.

Sabemos mediante una dedicada investigación, que una “denuncia de OVNI” no significa nada porque la experiencia demuestra que la vasta mayoría termina siendo algo que tiene una perfecta explicación. El supuesto “OVNI” termina siendo un OVI.

Esto no quiere decir que todo y cada cosa ha sido explicada. Hay cosas que merecen más investigación y estudio, y eso es lo que AARO está haciendo.

Los Fenómenos Luminosos Anómalos (FLA), como en el valle de Hessdalen, merecen más estudio con instrumentos, como lo ha propuesto el Astrofísico Dr. Massimo Teodorani.

Pero hay aún otra posibilidad. La más loca: los ETs están entre nosotros pero…¡son invisibles!

Eso podría explicar por qué AARO ¡¡no los puede encontrar!!
