UAPSG MEETING IN MONTEVIDEO

On the evening of March 11 as it was scheduled, the Members of UAPSG that live in Montevideo, Uruguay, held a meeting due to the fact that Milton Hourcade is visiting that country.

The event gathered together Professor Dr. Gonzalo Tancredi (Astronomer) and Prof. Dr. Claudio Martínez (Biologist) both of the Faculty of Sciences of the official University (Universidad de la República), and Mrss. Antonio Bachi, Rafael Forli, Germán Vázquez, Gustavo Quijano, Gonzalo Piano and Hourcade.

We want to give our deep thanks to Mr. Daniel Scarpa and Mr. Antonio Más, the owners of "Kappa-Crucis", a wonderful Astronomy store, who allowed us to use their place for our meeting.

After the technical presentations made by Dr. Tancredi and Dr. Martínez, Hourcade had a little lecture with images in Power Point dealing with the issue of "Things that can be seen at the Internet".

The Group adjourned at 10PM after an hour and a half, and maybe it meets again to consider some practical things related to the functioning of the UAPSG.

LA REUNIÓN DEL GEFAI EN MONTEVIDEO

En la tarde del 11 de Marzo, tal cual estaba programado los Miembros del GEFAI que viven en Montevideo, Uruguay, llevaron a cabo una reunión debido al hecho de que Milton Hourcade está visitando ese país.

El acontecimiento dio cita al Prof. Dr. Gonzalo Tancredi (Astronomía), al Prof. Dr. Claudio Martínez (Biología), ambos de la Facultad de Ciencias perteneciente a la Universidad de la República (oficial), y a los señores Antonio Bachi, Rafael Forli, Germán Vázquez, Gustavo Quijano, Gonzalo Piano y Hourcade.

Deseamos expresar nuestra profunda gratitud a los señores Daniel Scarpa y Antonio Más, propietarios de "Kappa-Crucis" un magnífico local de venta de instrumentos para Astronomía, que nos permitieron usar su lugar para nuestra reunión.

Luego de las presentaciones técnicas hechas por los Doctores Tancredi y Martínez, Hourcade tuvo una pequeña charla ilustrada con imágenes en Power Point sobre el tema "Cosas que se pueden ver en la Internet".

El Grupo culminó su sesión a la hora 22, después de hora y media, y quizás se reúna nuevamente para considerar algunos temas prácticos concernientes al funcionamiento del GEFAI.

NEW SATURN'S MOON DISCOVERED

Scientists have found a new moon hidden in one of Saturn's dazzling outer rings.

The international Cassini spacecraft spotted the moon, which measures about a third of a mile wide. The discovery was announced Tuesday in a notice by the International Astronomical Union.

Researchers have long puzzled over the formation of Saturn's G ring, one of the planet's more mysterious arcs.

They now think the G ring was likely formed from icy debris that scattered when meteorites crash into the newfound moon.

Scientists confirmed the moon's existence last summer after analyzing images from Cassini.

Saturn has over five dozen moons.

DESCUBREN NUEVA LUNA DE SATURNO

Científicos de la NASA descubrieron que Saturno, planeta rodeado por anillos, tiene otra luna más.

Así lo confirmó esta semana un boletín oficial de la Unión Astronómica Internacional (UAI).
Los expertos señalaron que el satélite natural es bastante pequeño, de apenas medio kilómetro de diámetro, pero aún no se detalla cuál sería su composición.

Además, explicaron que el satélite es apenas perceptible porque está parcialmente oculto en uno de los siete anillos exteriores de este planeta, el llamado anillo ‘G’.

El anillo ‘G’, el sexto y ubicado a unos 170.000 kilómetros del planeta, presenta un arco brillante que podría ser producto de una luna cercana y oculta o del impacto de un meteorito.

Los científicos confirmaron la existencia de esta nueva luna en agosto del año pasado, pero reconocieron que es hasta ahora cuando se oficializa la información.

El hallazgo fue posible tras analizar imágenes emitidas de la sonda espacial Cassini , primera misión dedicada únicamente a la exploración del planeta.

UAPSG URUGUAY IS GOING TO MEET IN MONTEVIDEO

UAPSG is an international Group. It has no national chapters. But Milton Hourcade is visiting Uruguay and this has prompted a meeting that will take place on March 11.

We’ll report later about this meeting.

So far, we know that Astronomy Professor Dr. Gonzalo Tancredi will report about the astronomical activities at the Sciences Faculty and the "Los Molinos" observatory.

Hourcade has prepared a brief presentation about Things that could be seen at the Internet, with images in Power Point.

Surely there would be a lot of dialogue and this also is goint to be a unique opportunity for the Uruguayan UAPSG members to get to know each other.

GEFAI URUGUAY SE VA A REUNIR EN MONTEVIDEO

El GEFAI es un grupo internacional. No tiene capítulos nacionales. Pero la visita de Milton Hourcade a Uruguay ha motivado una reunión que va a ralizarse el 11 de Marzo.

Informaremos posteriormente sobre esta reunión.

Hasta ahora sabemos que el Profesor de Astronomía Dr. Gonzalo Tancredi brindará un informe sobre las actividades astronómicas en la Facultad de Ciencias y en el Observatorio "Los Molinos".

Hourcade ha preparado una breve presentación sobre Cosas que se pueden ver en la Internet, ilustrada con imágenes en Power Point.

Seguramente que habrá mucho diálogo, ya que ésta será una oportunidad única además para que los miembros del GEFAI de Uruguay, se conozcan entre sí.

The French G.E.I.P.A.N. (UAP research and information group) has one of the most interesting Web pages dedicated to the study and analysis of the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena that we can find in the Internet.

Regretfully it is only written in French and English.
