UFO STATISTICS

The absurd declaration of July 2^nd. as “UFO Day” in the U.S.A., gave base for certain comments on the American TV and in some publications.

Among smiles and a very light consideration of the subject, there have been also some statistics.

For instance, the well known journal “USA TODAY” published a map with the Top Ten States Reporting UFO Sightings. The source is the dubious National UFO Reporting Center.

Let’s be clear, these are UFO Reports, not UFO cases declared so after a careful investigation and study.

One of the things that draws the attention is that some of the States with bigger numbers are among those who have an important percentage of Hispanic population.

The second thing to have in mind is that these numbers belong to a period of 10 years.

Here is the map.

On page 22 of  Hemispheres Magazine, published by United Airlines on July 2014, there are also some statistics under the title of “Little Green Factoids”.

There it is said for instance that 1.5 Million is the annual operating cost of the “Alien Telescope” (a reference to the Allen Array System) employed by the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence).

Another significant number is that 48% of Americans are open to the possibility of alien visitations, according to a 2013 Huffington Post/Yougov poll.

6,457 is the number of reported UFO sightings in USA in 2013.

And, for the times a UFO has been tracked on radar entering the Earth’s atmosphere, the number is 0.

ON THE UAP SUBJECT YOU CAN’T BE NEUTRAL

The subject of the Unusual Aerial Phenomena is enough intricate as to complicate it even more.

Some people –maybe with their best intentions--  confuse to be open minded with the acceptance  “bona fide” of any issue that directly, indirectly or supposedly has something –and sometimes nothing—to do with the UAP subject..

Under the idea of being neutral, the rationality, the common sense, the good judgment, the logic, the demand for evidence or proof, all of that is put on hold or set aside. And then everything is welcome: crop circles, ancient astronauts, men in black, underground cities, teleportation, automatic writing, telepathic messages from aliens, contactees, trips on flying saucers, etc.

This stance is not only un-scientific, it is really absurd.

As human beings we are equipped with intelligence to discern what is right and what is wrong, what is fact and what is fiction, what makes sense and what is nonsensical, what is reliable and what is suspicious at least if not really faked, what is certain and what is speculation, what is dealing with reality or with a far/fetched story.

An dealing directly with the UAP subject we need to wonder what could be the truth behind a story and what amount of disinformation is spread by intelligence sources to make us believe in things that really do not exist or that if they exist they are of a different nature that the one they want us to believe.

The UAP subject has been the object of a vast psychological operation from various sources. Unless we are aware of this fact, we do not know really what we are dealing with.

On the other hand, the negligible percentage of the unknown is the only thing that still should demand our attention, investigation and study.

And the best approach to develop such an investigation, study and come to acceptable conclusions, is to pursue the latest trend on this matter: be well equipped with various instruments, choose the place where the Unusual Aerial Phenomenon is repeatedly reported and try with all that means, (photograph, video,  radar, spectrometer, magnetometer, microphones) all coordinated and chronologically developed through a software program, to gather all the possible data and afterward get them analyzed by a multidisciplinary group of scientists.

Fantasy, conspiracy theories, believers, swindlers, the commercial exploitation, pseudo-science approaches, etc. have no room whatsoever to be mixed with the UAP subject properly considered

This is the lesson that I’ve learned during 55 five years dedicated to the investigation and study of the UAP (50 of which in C.I.O.V.I.): neutrality is not objectivity.

This task –as many others— requires seriousness, discipline, and engagement.

SCIENTISTS, TECHNICIANS AND THE U.A.P.

Some time ago we said that there were more than 40 high level scientists and technicians around the world that were dealing directly with the UAP and specifically with the Anomalous Luminous Phenomena (A.L.P.)

When we say dealing directly, we mean that with enormous will and a vast array of precision instruments; they are capturing, recording and analyzing the data gathered from the A.L.P. in certain geographic places on the planet.

Some of these scientists and technicians are directly or indirectly related to the UAPSG, which is an honor to us and a reason of great satisfaction.

These are people that are developing the New Ufology, the way to deal with the UAPs in their various manifestations. This is the current way to work with the issue. It goes beyond what groups of dilettantes or civilian groups with lack of resources can do. And it goes also beyond a merely military approach that never could deal these phenomena ontologically.

FANTASIES ARE PROFITABLE

The mystery that began back in 1947, usually called as the "UFO Phenomenon", continues.

Many cases have been explained, others raise questions and a small percentage is mired in mystery.

Now there are many people dedicated to study the issue seriously, for which it has become a permanent challenge.

They do it voluntarily without receiving any financial compensation in return. They are moved only by the idea of ​​solving the mystery.

Unfortunately there are those who use it to its personal profit, exploiting the fantastic and mystical side, which generates for them interesting monetary income.

These I call "sellers of fantasies and illusions."
A friend researcher calls them "mountebanks"
For them UFOs are not such because they already know what they are.
The mystery is solved ...
They claim they are alien spacecraft and some say they have
them as guests and traveled to distant planets.

They tell permanently their stories and sometimes when they repeat some of them they do it differently, changing some facts, etc., but no one corrects them.

The sad thing is that many people believe them without even analyzing
its improbable and impossible stories and pays to listen.

So much has gone down the cultural level of the world we live in?

When I call them "sellers of fantasies and illusions" I do so, assuming
they really know what they preach is not true.

If, however, these individuals believe they are telling true stories, the term "sellers of fantasies ..." wouldn’t apply and they should be called within the frame of some psychiatric pathology, which would make them more dangerous ...

Maybe there could be a bit of both.

Fortunately they are not so many and they are easily recognizable....

Either way, they are individuals who contribute nothing positive to the study
of UFOs and instead what they do is make matters worse for those who seriously deal with it.

For those willing to pay admission to any conference, speech, etc. of anyone of them, my advice is to spend money on a ticket to see some science fiction movie.

As bad as it may be, it will be better than the conference.
