RIO54 AND THE AIR FORCE COMMITTEE

The monthly meeting of RIO54 (a group of people that freely meet together to talk about the UFO subject and related issues in Buenos Aires, Argentina) was attended this time by Captain Mariano Mohaupt (in the picture) member of the Aerospace Phenomena Investigation Committee recently created by the Argentinean Air Force, which is going to have an office and a team to compile UFO reports.

Captain Mohaupt shared the meeting of RIO54 to have a personal dialogue with civilian investigators and to bring details about the new organization.

He advanced the information that the Ministry of Defense and the Air Force General Staff have approved the resolution that makes official the Committee and he specified that they preferred to talk about “aerospace phenomena” instead of “UFOs” because although the acronym came out as a technical designation, nevertheless its meaning has become different things for the general public. On the other hand, to talk about “aerospace phenomena” is more neutral and more adequate to the specific competence of the Air Force.

Captain Mohaupt added that in the Air Force web page it will be a section where people would be able to get in direct contact with the Committee.

In a very animated exchange of ideas, the participants talked about investigation protocols, declassification of material, the recovery of old official reports, interdisciplinary case studies as well as educational activities.

RIO54 Y LA COMISION DE LA FUERZA AEREA ARGENTINA

La reunión mensual RIO54 de mayo contó con la concurrencia del capitán Mariano Mohaupt ,(en la foto) integrante de la Comisión de Investigación de Fenómenos Aeroespaciales recientemente creada por la Fuerza Aérea Argentina (FAA) orientada a disponer de una oficina y un equipo que recopile informes sobre observaciones de objetos voladores no identificados.

El capitán Mohaupt compartió la mesa de RIO54 para entablar un diálogo personal con los investigadores civiles y brindar detalles sobre la nueva dependencia. Anticipó que el Ministerio de Defensa y la Jefatura del Estado Mayor de la Fuerza Aérea ya han rubricado la resolución que oficializa la comisión y agregó que se prefirió usar la frase “fenómenos aeroespaciales” ya que el término “ovni” si bien surgió como una sigla técnica para rotular a objetos sin identificar, se ha sustantivado en el habla cotidiana adquiriendodiferentes connotaciones, en tanto referirse a “fenómenos aeroespaciales” no sólo es una terminología más neutra sino que es atinente a la competencia específica de la Fuerza Aérea. Añadió también Mohaupt que en la web oficial del arma se establecerá una sección para contactarse de modo directo con la nueva comisión investigadora.

En una animada charla con amplia participación de todo el grupo se abordaron temas diversos como protocolos de investigación, desclasificación, recuperación de informes oficiales del pasado, estudios interdisciplinarios de casos, así como actividades educativas que se podrían realizar.

53 YEARS AGO: C.I.O.V.I.

53 years ago, on April 29, 1958, a group of courageos young men met together to give shape to what for the following 50 years was known in Uruguay and the world around as C.I.O.V.I.

The Unidentified Flying Objects Investigation Center, a private and civilian institution that started from the scratch and acquired experience and expertise in the field investigation, the subsequent study and classification of the original UFO reports in Uruguay.

C.I.O.V.I. was pioneer in its activity and no one accumulated more experience, more study, more international contacts and dedicated more thought and reflection about the UFO subject in Uruguay than C.I.O.V.I. did.

When the UFO subject, for technological reasons, declined, and there were no longer UFO reports as it used to be, nor relevance of the subject within the society, the Directive Council of the Center decided to close its activities, after existing for 50 years.

Nevertheless, recently, there were some UFO reports, and still they were directed to C.I.O.V.I.

The Uruguayan members of UAPSG took responsibility for the study of those cases which were opportunely and accurately solved.

But the spirit that shaped the character of those who belonged to C.I.O.V.I. is still there, and there have been rumors of a possible reemerging of the Center, particularly for the lack of scientific criterion and expertise of the official commission dedicated to deal with UFO reports in Uruguay.

HACE 53 AÑOS: C.I.O.V.I.

Hace 53 años, el 29 de Abril de 1958, un grupo de valientes hombres jóvenes se reunieron para dar forma a lo que durante los siguientes 50 años fue conocido en Uruguay y el resto del mundo como el C.I.O.V.I.

El Centro de Investigación de Objetos Voladores Inidentificados, una institución privada y civil que comenzó desde cero y adquirió experiencia y pericia en la investigación de campo, el subsiguiente estudio y clasificación de las originales denuncias de OVNI en Uruguay.

El C.I.O.V.I. fue pionero en su actividad y nadie acumuló más experiencia, más estudio, más contactos internacionales y dedicó más pensamiento y reflexión acerca del tema OVNI en Uruguay de lo que lo hizo el C.I.O.V.I.

Cuando el tema OVNI –por razones tecnológicas—declinó, y ya no hubo denuncias de OVNI como solía haber, ni relevancia del tema dentro de la sociedad, el Consejo Directivo del Centro decidió cerrar sus actividades, al cumplir 50 años de existencia.

No obstante, recientemente hubo algunas denuncias de OVNI, y aún fueron dirigidas al C.I.O.V.I.

Los miembros uruguayos del G.E.F.A.I. se hicieron responsables por el estudio de esos casos que fueron resueltos oportunamente y con precisión.

Pero el espíritu que formó el carácter de quienes pertenecieron al C.I.O.V.I. aún está allí, y han habido rumores de un posible resurgir del Centro, particularmente por la falta de criterio científico y pericia de la comisión oficial dedicada a considerar las denuncias de OVNI en Uruguay.

Painful news

This midnight passed away Ms. Nibia Reinaldo Vázquez, wife or our beloved friend Germán S. Vázquez, co-founder of the former CIOVI, and member of UAPSG-GEFAI.

She suffered of a sudden heart attack and all the efforts done to recover her were to no avail.

We extend to Germán and his family our sincere condolences.

Luctuosa noticia

Esta madrugada, dejó de existir la señora Nibia Reinaldo de Vázquez, esposa de nuestro gran amigo Germán S. Vázquez, co-fundador del ex-CIOVI, y miembro del UAPSG-GEFAI.

La señora Nibia sufrió un ataque cardíaco y no fue posible hacerla recuperar del mismo.

Hacemos llegar a Germán y su familia nuestras sinceras condolencias.

The UAPSG is an international group. At this moment there are people belonging to 10 countries, and some disciplines, plus experts on the UAP subject.

But we need to enhance our activities and the experience of the members reaching other countries and disciplines.

Therefore we make a call to seriously interested and experienced people in the UAP area in:

Australia, Colombia, Costa Rica, China, Germany, India, Japan, New Zealand, Paraguay, Perú, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, South Africa, South Korea, United Kingdom.

And we are in need of people with PhDs or Masters in the following disciplines:
Botanics, Chemistry, Medicine, Psychology, and Veterinary.
