A MAGNIFICENT UDELAR PROJECT ALLOWS OPTICAL CONTROL OF THE SKY

 


The Project, which is already underway in Uruguay, arose from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of the Republic (UDELAR).

More specifically, from Dr. Gonzalo Tancredi, Professor of the Department of Astronomy, Institute of Physics of the Faculty of Sciences.

In contact with Dr. Tancredi, we have received the following information: “What we are installing is a network of fireball monitoring stations. The stations have an allsky camera that captures the entire sky in one image, from horizon to horizon. We are installing them on the rooftops of high schools across the country.”

There are 20 stations that cover the entire country.

“The stations (camera + computer) will record all changing light in the
sky. In fact, this is one of our great challenges, how to separate a fireball from a plane, an insect, a storm..."

“For this we are doing, on the one hand, the manual classification of the videos, with the help of teachers and secondary school students (to this purpose, Workshops are announced on the website); but also with the help of Engineering students we have developed an algorithm based on Machine Learning, for automatic classification.”

 

“We put together the stations with the parts that we buy: the cameras are Chinese, then there is a mini-PC and other devices that we buy in the US or locally."

“The cost of materials is around USD 1,400 (without taxes, because Udelar can buy without import taxes). We have not estimated how much the cost would be in the event of a commission, but if there was interest we could estimate it.”

“About the possibility of extension to the region, we have handled it. That is why we named it BOlidos del Cono SUR (BOCOSUR). But for now we don't have any concrete plans.”

So far what Prof. Tancredi informed us.

For our part, we add that, with the installed algorithm working, these detectors can perfectly capture an Unusual Aerial Phenomenon that would later have to be analyzed.

In the event of reporting an observation of something strange in a certain place, and having one of these detectors installed in the vicinity, this would make it possible to corroborate or not the report made and at the same time would facilitate the identification of what was sighted.


 

UN MAGNÍFICO PROYECTO DE LA UDELAR PERMITE CONTROLAR ÓPTICAMENTE EL CIELO

El Proyecto que ya está en marcha en Uruguay, surgió de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Universidad de la República (UDELAR).

Más específicamente, del Dr.Gonzalo Tancredi, Profesor Titular del Departamento de Astronomía, Instituto de Física de la Facultad de Ciencias.

En contacto con el Dr. Tancredi, hemos recibido la siguiente información: “Lo que estamos instalando es una red de estaciones para el monitoreo de bólidos. Las estaciones cuentan con  una cámara allsky que en una imagen captan todo el cielo, de horizonte a horizonte. Las estamos instalando en las azoteas de liceos de todo el país.”

 Son 20 las estaciones que cubren todo el país.

las estaciones (camara + computadora) van a registrar toda luz cambiante en el cielo. De hecho ese es uno de nuestros grandes desafíos, de cómo separar un bólido, de un avión, un insecto, una tormenta, ....

“Para eso estamos haciendo por un lado la clasificación manual de los videos, con la ayuda de profesores y estudiantes de Secundaria (para eso los Talleres que se anuncian en el sitio web); pero además con ayuda de estudiantes de Ingeniería hemos desarrollado un algoritmo basado en Machine Learning, para la clasificación automática.”


“Las estaciones las armamos nosotros con las partes que vamos comprando: las cámaras son chinas, luego hay una miniPC y otros dispositivos que compramos en EEUU o localmente."

“El costo de materiales se ubica en los USD 1400 (sin impuestos, porque  Udelar puede comprar sin impuestos de importación). No hemos estimado cuánto sería el costo en caso de un encargo, pero si hubiera interés lo  podríamos estimar.”

 “Sobre la posibilidad de extensión a la región, lo hemos manejado. Por eso es que le pusimos BOlidos del COno SUR (BOCOSUR). Pero por ahora no tenemos ningun plan concreto.”

Hasta aquí lo que nos informó el Prof. Tancredi.

Por nuestra parte agregamos que, funcionando el algoritmo instalado, estos detectores perfectamente pueden captar un Fenómeno Aéreo Inusual que posteriormente tendría que ser analizado. 

En caso de denunciarse una observación de algo extraño en determinado lugar, y contando con uno de estos detectores instalado en las inmediaciones, eso permitiría corroborar o no la denuncia efectuada y a la vez facilitaría la identificación de lo avistado.

MORE INFORMATION FOR THE ALL-DOMAIN ANOMALY RESOLUTION OFFICE (AARO)

An article published on June 27, 2023 in the internet DEFENSESCOOP magazine, written by Bandi Vincent, shows that fulfilling her promise, the Chair  of the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, will make by law to give the AARO all the information needed about UAP, including the possibility that there could be pieces of anomalous crafts that had kept secret so far.

We have to remember that during the meeting on April 19, 2023, Dr.

Sean Kirkpatrick complained that his office was at that moment not able to obtain from some areas of the Government all the information that could be given to AARO. 

This situation would be solved when the Intelligence Authorization Act (IAA) for fiscal year 2024 is approved.
